Sharing the Beauty and artistry of Dance

Dancing womenAs part of its mission, Ballet Northwest is committed to serving the community through education and outreach activities. Each spring through our Dance Literacy Outreach programs, company dancers conduct lectures and demonstrations in local elementary schools throughout Thurston County. Each May, students attend a free student matinee at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. The performance includes a brief ballet class, excerpts from Ballet Northwest's spring production and a question and answer session.

Ballet Northwest is also committed to furthering the education of its local company dancers. Dancers are invited to apply for scholarships to be used for summer programs and higher education. Furthermore, master classes with special guest teachers are provided to company dancers throughout the year. Teachers from Pacific Northwest Ballet, Cornish College of the Arts, and University of Washington have visited recently.
